Job Description

We have a short-term opportunity for an Attendance Advisor / Admin Assistant to join the team on a part-time, fixed term basis through to 20 December 2024. This is an excellent opportunity to gain admin/office-based experience. In return,you will receive a competitive rate of £13.10 -13.30 per hour DOE.

We are a high-achieving college who attract around 2,800 sixth form students across the region each year. We are based within the stunning New Forest National Park and offer our students a huge range of courses and superb facilities.

About the role:

As the Attendance Advisor / Admin Assistant, you will provide efficient and effective customer service and clerical support in processing student absence communications and liaising with parents and carers.

Responsibilities as our Attendance Advisor / Admin Assistant will include:

  • Monitoring and processing student absence through phone calls and emails in a friendly and professional manner.
  • Providing high quality customer service to assist students, staff and visitors, whether by telephone, email or in person.
  • Communicating with other departments to ensure the safety of visitors and the high maintenance of the College and its grounds.
  • Assisting fellow members of the Student Services Admin Team as and when necessary
  • Attending and participating at training events and staff meetings, as required.
  • Any other such duties, commensurate with the grade of post, which may be reasonably allocated.

As our Attendance Advisor / Admin Assistant, you'llideally have:

  • GCSEs in English and Maths (or equivalent) Willingness and ability to learn new skills
  • A minimum of one year's experience in an office environment, interacting with the general public.
  • Experience of assisting a range of different people with diverse needs.
  • Competent computer skills - able to use Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and the Internet for information retrieval.
  • Eagerness to ensure students and visitors are received in a professional manner and are provided with up-to-date information and/or signposted to the correct departments.
  • Flexibility to cover the centre office during the daytime or at weekends at times due to additional workshops or sickness/holiday cover
