The Role:
As the Assistant Headteacher (English), you will play a pivotal role in leading and supporting the English department. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Teaching:
    Delivering high-quality English lessons to students across Key Stages 3, 4, and 5.
  • Leadership:
    Assisting the Headteacher in the strategic leadership and management of the school, with a focus on the English department.
  • Curriculum Development:
    Collaborating with colleagues to develop and implement an engaging and challenging English curriculum.
  • Student Support:
    Providing guidance and support to students, helping them to achieve their academic and personal goals.
  • Staff Development:
    Mentoring and supporting English department staff, fostering a culture of continuous professional development.
  • Parental Engagement:
    Building strong relationships with parents and carers to support student progress and well-being.

About You:
The ideal candidate would have:
  • Qualifications:
    A degree in English or a related field, and Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
  • Experience:
    Proven experience in teaching English at the secondary level, with a track record of excellent student outcomes.
  • Leadership Skills:
    Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate both staff and students.
  • Communication:
    Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with all members of the school community.
  • Passion:
    A genuine passion for English education and a commitment to fostering a love of learning in students.
