Job Description

Application Support Engineer with 8 + years' experience required to join a leading European Organisation onsite in Geneva, Switzerland.

12 months + contract

Maximum daily rate: 485 Swiss Francs

At least 8 years hands-on experience in managing and supporting production environments running JAVA applications.

Proven experience:

  • Building and maintaining highly available systems
  • CI/CD pipelines
  • Monitoring and alerting
  • Troubleshooting technical issues
  • 3rd level technical support
  • AWS Fargate, Docker, Linux environments, configuration management, Java, bash Scripting or any other Scripting language
  • CI/CD pipelines with knowledge of release management to release/deploy new version of software having updates/fixes
  • Knowledge in relational databases and SQL languages
  • Problem solving attitude
  • High attention to detail
  • Knowledge sharing and training capabilities
  • Excellent knowledge of English.

Objective of the role:

The incumbent will be assigned to the support team of the External systems development section where he/she will contribute to and execute the required monitoring and support of all external facing applications, and perform all related activities to ensure smooth, timely and efficient service availability to maintain business as usual.

Duties:

  • Carry out daily operational tasks on the client external business applications portfolio ensuring system availability and optimum performance
  • Establish, maintain, monitor, and troubleshoot complex information systems processes and critical events that contribute to business operations; perform recovery exercises including coordination with stakeholders.
  • Perform software development, maintenance and debugging of client external applications.
  • Perform systems and data analysis tasks; compile and analyse statistics on production activities and prepare related reports.
  • Perform unit, system and integration testing and assist users with user acceptance testing.
  • Establish, support, and execute repeatable processes to ensure, automate and/or optimize the client Operations schedule and maintain system security and integrity.
  • Troubleshoot and provide technical support to users to diagnose and resolve problems; escalate complex issues requiring further investigation/intervention; provide guidance on the use of new techniques, monitor transactions to measure performance and continued improvement of systems.
  • Update and maintain operational and technical documentation.
  • Perform other related duties as required.
  • All tasks are performed in consultation with client Information Systems teams (Internal and External development, Quality Control and Operations).
