Approved Mental Health Practitioner (AMHP)

Powys, Mid Wales

up to £42 per hour

An AMHP is required to join Powys Social Services Community Mental Health Team. Contracts are available for full time hours and part time hours. Pay rate for this role is up to £40 per hour dependent upon experience. This role offers hybrid working, ideally you will be on site / in Powys for 3 days per week. In the main you will be required to undertake Mental Health Act assessments covering daytime AMHP rota which may occasionally cross over into the evening. Flexible working is available. Pay rate is up to £42 per hour Umbrella, subject to experience.

Duties and responsibilities for this position include:

  • To assess and manage the complex needs of people with a mental health issue and their carers to ensure their health, wellbeing and promote social inclusion.
  • To liaise with professionals to ensure seamless care pathways which safeguard and promote independence.
  • To promote joint working which supports the person centred outcomes to be delivered for people with a mental health issue.
  • To undertake safeguarding investigations as required.
  • To assist the Local Authority to meet their statutory obligations under Mental Health Measure and the Social Services and Wellbeing (Wales) Act 2014 and others.
  • Undertake the role of an AMHP to deliver on the Local Authorities statutory requirements within the MHA 1983.

To apply for this role you will need to hold:

  • Recognised Social Work qualification
  • Registration with Social Care Wales - happy to consider applicants who need to make a submission to register but you will not be able to start without this in place
  • Have an up to date AMHP portfolio ideally
  • Enhanced DBS registered on the update service
  • 3 years of referencing
