Job Description

Reporting to: LS/MS Principals and After School Program Director

Hours: Full time 9:30 AM to 5:30 PM

Working period: ASL term-time (August-June), 10 months per academic year

Start date: November 2024.

Contract: Fixed term until June 2025.

Salary: £27, 739 - £30, 311 depending on qualifications and experience

Playground Supervisor:

  • Supervise students K1 - Grade 8 on the playground during recess.
  • Being mindful of safety, social interaction and engagement of peers during this time.
  • This would include chaperoning students to the classroom and dismissal areas and monitoring behavior until they are dismissed.
  • Actively monitor conduct and ensure students behave in accordance with school rules and expectations.
  • Share information with appropriate divisions regarding any concerns.
  • Collaborate and communicate with the other daily recess supervisors on duty.

After-School Program Assistant:

  • Print and maintain daily registers, cross-referencing with attendance and dismissal forms to ensure accurate tracking of student participation.
  • Keep the daily bus list updated, coordinating with the transport office to ensure smooth and efficient student transportation.
  • Organize and prepare signs for various programs, enhancing visibility and communication for participants and staff.
  • Create and manage name tags for various classes.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for medical information, responsible for pulling and distributing medications as needed each day.
  • During the afterschool program, the assistant plays a crucial role in ensuring accurate attendance and serves as the lead on dismissal procedures.

General:

  • Provide cover for classes or outdoor play as needed.
  • Build positive relationships with ASL families and be responsive to their needs.
  • Communicate effectively with administration, faculty, staff, families, and students.
  • Communicate with other ASL departments including transport, facilities, accounts, etc.
  • Any other duties as are within the scope, spirit, and purpose of the job as requested by the ASP Director or divisional administrators
  • Participate actively in the life of the School, through attendance at meetings, events, and committee membership

Selection Criteria:

Essential qualifications/experience:

  • Substantive experience working with children in a similar classroom or play environment
  • Strong oral and written communication skills and a desire to work in a team-focused environment
  • Professional and friendly manner with the ability to interact with students, parents, teachers, and staff with ease
  • Strong technology skills, including familiarity with Mac applications
  • A proven commitment to the safeguarding and welfare of children

Desirable qualifications/experience:

  • Knowledge and understanding of international and/or independent school communities
  • Experience working in a school or other similar educational settings
  • Recent first aid training and sound knowledge of school health and safety guidelines
