Job Description

Role purpose

At Copper we work with our clients to achieve the transition to net zero, through strategic communication campaigns, engaging with communities and creating narratives to support change. Your role sits within the infrastructure practice, working across the energy, transport and water sectors. You will take responsibility for working with clients, industry partners, Copper colleagues and communities to build understanding and support the development of transformative infrastructure.

As an account director, you will develop and take ownership of communications campaigns, acting as the senior counsel to clients. You will proactively engage with clients and Copper teams to create compelling narratives and programmes which communicate the social, environmental, and economic benefits of change and the transition to a net zero future.

You are an active listener, able to hear and reflect the key priorities of your clients and your teams and translate them into tangible actions. Your versatility allows you to focus on various programmes of work, overcoming obstacles, whilst identifying and implementing positive solutions for your clients, reports and the wider Copper team. You have an ambitious and driven approach, and want to achieve the best outcomes for your stakeholders and Copper. You understand the need for strong commercial acumen and financial knowledge and dedicate the time to understand the detail of your project accounts, the productivity of your teams and the areas for growth.

Your skills

  • Strategy - A passion for the development and infrastructure sector with an extensive track record of developing and delivering communication, consultation and engagement strategies for infrastructure and major projects
  • Commercial acumen - able to understand financial data, including forecasting, invoicing and how to service accounts in a value-added manner and an eagerness to continue developing commercial knowledge
  • Leadership - A strong people manager who can motivate their direct reports, has emotional intelligence, and is able to mentor others
  • Teamwork - ability to work in conjunction with a wide range of people, including clients, partners and stakeholders, while forming effective relationships with teammates and supporting a positive team culture
  • Relationship building - able to influence positive outcomes and become a trusted advisor throughout project strategy and delivery

Your knowledge

  • Sound knowledge of the infrastructure industry and the transition to net-zero
  • Engaged in politics and current affairs and well read on areas that affect our clients and sectors
  • Strong understanding of the theory and practice of managing communications plans and strategies
  • Experience of leading varied teams to deliver positive outcomes
  • Knowledge and experience of the DCO process and planning regulations is desirable
