Bridgwater & Taunton College Residential provision provides accommodation for students aged 16+ studying across any of our three campuses. The College s primary student accommodation is based at the Cannington campus and consists of 211 beds. The college also offers accommodation in Taunton at our Wellington Rd properties, boasting 19 beds that are situated over seven flats. This is alongside the 198 bed existing provision situated in Trull. An exciting new area of growth for the Residential provision is a rapidly expanding number of HMOs across Bridgwater and the surrounding areas.
A key priority for all Residential roles is to strive towards providing an Ofsted Outstanding provision for all of our students.
The Residential Team interviews and allocates residential places to students. They provide 24/7 support for residential students with issues ranging from accommodation queries to student wellbeing, entertainment and enrichment. The team s primary responsibility is the safeguarding of residential students. The residential provision was inspected by Ofsted under the Further Education Residential Accommodation: National Minimum Standards in October 2022 and awarded Outstanding overall.
The Accommodation Officer will be the point of contact for Residential applicants looking to reside in Taunton and across our HMO properties, they will take the lead on progressing the applications ensuring accurate records are maintained and GDPR compliance is observed.
The post holder will conduct mentoring meetings with the students from our Taunton provision and across all of our HMOs and act as a crucial link between these students and the Residential Team.
The post holder will work closely with the Health & Safety Team as well as the Facilities and Maintenance Team to ensure compliance with all relevant legislation and maintenance of accommodation. In addition, the post holder will arrange the procurement of suitable items such as furniture, when required.
The role is primarily based at the Taunton Campus, however, a minimum of twice weekly days at Cannington Campus will be required as well as reasonable travel to other sites.
