Posted 2 years 8 months ago by The University of Glasgow
Understand the basics of HTA
Health technology assessment (HTA) is a key tool for helping with decision-making, particularly concerning priority setting and resource allocation.
This three-week course will help you delve into HTA and its methodology to understand how it can be used to its full potential. You’ll explore the definitions of the technology, the disciplines and stakeholders involved, and the outputs of HTA.
This knowledge of the key principles and processes will help you understand how HTA is conducted.
Unpack the process of an economic evaluation
Economic evaluation is a vital part of decision-making in healthcare. It helps to compare the costs, benefits, and outcomes – using economic evidence to make better decisions.
You’ll recognise the process and structure of economic evaluation by exploring two case studies and how economic evaluation is used in HTA.
Explore the expansion of HTA to LMIC (low and middle-income countries)
You’ll discover the wider context in which HTA exists and how HTA is being extended into low-and middle-income countries (LMIC).
You’ll also understand how we are in an era of investment and expansion of HTA, what this means for low-and middle-income countries, and the potential this brings for promoting universal health coverage.
Exploring case studies on economic evaluation in both a high-income and LMIC setting, and learning from the specialists at the University of Glasgow, you’ll finish the course with a firm understanding of HTA across different contexts.
This course is designed for anyone working in health who wants to gain more of an understanding of Health Technology Assessment.
You’ll learn methods and processes of analyses, and gain technical skills in using HTA.
