The Governance Standards are a set of six core minimum standards that deal with how a charity is run.
This short course is the second of two which offer practical guidance on how your charity can meet the Governance Standards given the many variables making each charity’s circumstances unique.
You will learn scalable ways of how to apply Governance Standards 4-6 to your charity (Suitability of Responsible Persons, Duties of Responsible Persons, Maintaining and enhancing public trust and confidence in the Australian not-for-profit sector).
You will also learn how to ensure your charity winds up according to the Governance Standards.
This course is designed for anyone looking to understand and apply the minimum legal requirements for a charity.

- Assess whether Governance Standards 4-6 have been correctly applied by charities through reflecting on case studies.
- Apply Governance Standards 4-6 to their own charity.
- Demonstrate that the steps they have taken to apply Governance Standards 4-6 to their charity are appropriate based on their charity’s size, operating location/s, purposes, beneficiaries and activities.
- Investigate and discuss the requirements of winding up in accordance with the Governance Standards and apply these lessons to their own charity.
