Fast paced food business based in Hayes supplying luxury food products requires a highly capable and confident Transport Supervisor

THE TRANSPORT SUPERVISOR

Supporting the running a busy operation consisting of 30+ vehicles 25+ of which are 3.5t vehicles.

The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the day to day operation of our transport department. Delivering a range of foods in temperature controlled vehicles to retailers, hotels, restaurants etc across London and the Home Counties our reputation is built on consistently delivering on time and in full.

Key Aspects of the role include:

Preparing documentation for the warehouse, haulage, distribution and shipping departments.

Arrange with drivers, transport of deliveries, and confirm availability.

Briefing and de-briefing drivers, speaking to drivers who may have broken down and arranging recovery.

Communicating with customers, ensuring their quotations and requirements are fulfilled and calling customers to check if drivers have arrived.

General administration, invoicing, purchase orders, filing, queries, claims and checking costs.

Liaising with staff, Managers and field staff to ensure the above tasks are completed effectively.

Scheduling: Scheduling drivers and assigning delivery routes

Compliance: Ensuring compliance with transportation laws and regulations, including DOT regulations

Maintenance: Maintaining vehicles in good condition and managing repair schedules

Safety: Ensuring employees adhere to safety standards on the road and when loading and unloading cargo

Documentation: Documenting all transportation activities in a database, including trip logs and reports

Budgeting: Managing transportation and maintenance budgets

Staffing: Assisting with the hiring process for new drivers and motivating their teams

Training: Conducting regular staff training

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE

This is a fast paced, demanding environment and requires applicants with strong communication and management skills alongside:

  • Food Industry experience
  • Multi Drop supply in London, South East and Home Counties
  • Strong management and communication skills
  • Minimum 2-4 years transport industry experience
