Job Title: SEND Commissioning Officer
Location: Waltham Forest - 2 days per week
Salary/Rate: Up to £415 per day Inside IR35 (£55.16 Per hour)
Start Date: 13/12/24
Job Type: Contract

Company Introduction

We have an exciting opportunity now available with one of our sector-leading public sector clients! They are currently looking for a skilled SEND Commissioning Officer to join their team for a six-month contract.

Job Responsibilities/Objectives

  1. Lead the commissioning of services for children and people with SEND, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation, policies, and best practice.
  2. Conduct comprehensive needs analyses, gathering and analysing data to inform commissioning decisions.
  3. Develop, negotiate, and monitor contracts with external providers to ensure the effective delivery of high-quality services that meet the needs of children, people, and their families.
  4. Build and maintain strong working relationships with key stakeholders, including service providers, local authority colleagues, health professionals, educational institutions, and families, to ensure a joined-up approach to service delivery.
  5. Collaborate with finance teams to manage budgets effectively, ensuring value for money and efficient use of resources.
  6. Evaluate the impact of commissioned services through data analysis and feedback from service users, adapting and improving services as needed.
  7. Ensure that the voice of children, people, and families is central to all commissioning activity.

Required Skills/Experience
The ideal candidate will have the following:

  1. Experience in a commissioning, contract management, or procurement role, ideally within the SEND, education, or health sectors.
  2. Strong knowledge of SEND legislation, policies, and best practice within the UK.
  3. Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain effective partnerships.
  4. Proven ability to manage budgets, analyse data, and assess the effectiveness of services.
  5. A proactive and flexible approach, with the ability to adapt to changing priorities and respond to the evolving needs of service users.
  6. Strong commitment to promoting equality, diversity, and inclusion.
