Battersea successfully rehomes approximately 3,000 animals annually and takes in many more. We have an ambition to significantly increase the number of cats and dogs helped through our centres and beyond.
In addition to rescuing, rehabilitating and rehoming dogs and cats, we have a strategic ambition to tackle the issues affecting the health and welfare of dog and cats to prevent relinquishment in the first place. We aim to do this by providing with advice and support to people who are struggling with their dogs and cats so that animals can stay where they are loved and cared for - reducing the need for animals to come into our care for preventable reasons.
Battersea s new organisational strategy comprises three core pillars: Prevent, Support and Care. As part of Support we want to develop our current advice and support work into a flagship cross organisational programme to enable Battersea to deliver timely and appropriate advice and support to more struggling owners either directly or through partnership working.
The Head of Advice, Support & Education is a new role with a remit to lead this strategy and set up a cross organisational programme that addresses the issues struggling pet owners experience.
The role will set up and drive the governance of a strategic programme, including defining and overseeing key workstreams such as content development, advice service expansion and strategic partnerships that support struggling owners.
The postholder should have a background in information and support, advice or content development and have led on the development of a strategic programme within a not-for-profit setting that delivers social impact. The role requires excellent stakeholder engagement both internally and externally, and experience in collaboration and partnership working to deliver shared benefit.
