Permanent 35 hours a week, Monday to Friday (happy to talk explore working)

The TUC is seeking a new Director of Operations. The successful candidate will be a skilled professional who is keen to work for the trade union movement. They will join the TUC's senior leadership team and will report to the Assistant General Secretary. The postholder will lead on a wide range of services and functions, upholding standards of excellence befitting the trade union movement. These include:

  • To manage the transition as the TUC moves from Congress House, and subsequently strategically manage the TUC's estate, including our headquarters and regional offices.
  • Leading and developing staff teams, and practical experience of HRM and employee relations
  • Financial planning and control at senior level including contracts and tender processes
  • Upholding the organisation's statutory obligations in areas of financial reporting and at least one of the following: building requirements, employment law, health and safety legislation

This is a challenging leadership role, and we invite applications from highly motivated, adaptable individuals, committed to the trade union movement's aims and objectives, with experience in financial control and planning, facilities management and human resources. You will be familiar with statutory obligations in the areas of financial reporting, health and safety and general building requirements, and employee relations. You will be enthusiastic about developing our building, internal services and people to the highest standards, while ensuring value for money in a sensitive financial environment.
