FreshDirect are currently recruiting for a Site Technical Manager tojoin the Fresh Kitchen team. Reporting to the Technical Manager forfresh manufacturing, you'll work as part of the Technical team tolead and support elements relating to Product Quality, Safety,Legality, and Integrity.

As Site TechnicalManager of Fresh Kitchen, a primary focus will be on the safety,quality and legality of our added value high risk products(including sauces, dressings; cooked rice and pastas; ice creams,sorbets and gelato, mousses and pickles).

Thisrole will ensure that Fresh Kitchen comply with all currentlegislation, customer requirements, and company standards. You willmaintain the Quality Manual inclusive of QMS, product and rawmaterial specifications and ensure that all products preparedwithin the businesses meet these specifications - communicatingwith any parties necessary to achieve this. It will also be yourresponsibility to manage and maintain company due diligence and toensure products produced are safe andlegal.

This is an on-siterole based in our Bicester depot withinfrequent travel to meet with customers and suppliers, so ideallyyou will live within a commutable distance and be comfortabletravelling.

Key Accountabilities&Responsibilities:

  • Responsiblefor ensuring the companies compliance to all necessaryaccreditation, legislation, customer codes of practice /requirements and Sysco standards (our parentcompany)
  • Prepare for, organise and lead siteaudits by customers, BRC, Local and central government agencies orsimilar bodies and also including Internal Audits - taking thenecessary corrective action whererequired.
  • Manage the Production Technicalrequirements ensuring at all times that product is supplied to thenecessary specifications and meets customer, legislative &industry requirements.
  • Log, investigate andfollow up on all customer complaints and resolveinternally/externally as required. Implement trend analysis intocustomer complaint analysis to identify re-occurring issues and putin place corrective action strategies as aresult.
  • Ensure regular product shelf life /surveillance testing is carried out and conduct all product trials,organoleptic and microbiological testing.
  • Toensure all the company's suppliers are brought into the business ina controlled manner and officially audited or assessed on apredetermined basis, to include all food and non-foodlines.
  • Management of raw material / productspecifications and relevant databases
  • Tocontrol and manage the regular review of the Company QualityManagement Systems, to include all work processes and procedures,HACCP / Allergen management and all accreditation requirements, andany customer specific requirements.
  • Manage thesite Quality team.
  • Establish and managepolicies relating to due diligence, product safety and integrityensuring internal and external (supplier)compliance.
  • Manage GMP and hygiene qualitywithin the production environment including the monitoring ofcleaning efficacy through a predetermined micro testing & auditschedule.
  • Manage site pestcontrol.
  • Drive continuous technical improvementthroughout.

Aboutyou:

Previoushigh risk product experience is essential for this role inproducts ideally covering sauces, dressings; cooked rice andpastas; ice creams, sorbets and gelato, mousses, andpickles.

To besuccessful in this role you must hold a full clean Drivers Licence,have a Food Science/Technology degree or equivalent and be minimumHACCP level 3 certified and preferably Lead Auditorqualified.

This is a great role for a TechnicalManager or Quality Manager with a few years' experiencelooking to take the next step in their career within foodproduction. You will have demonstrable industry experience andknowledge of all relevant food safety legislation, QMS, BRCstandards and audits. It is key to have excellent communicationskills as you will be customer focused, be well organised and useeffective project management skills. You will also have experiencedealing with Trading Standards and Environmental Health and havehigh care/ high risk food premisesexperience.
