Job Description
Seeking a Head of Responsive Repairs for a leading FM and Housing Maintenance provider.

Hays Property and Surveying is seeking a Head of Responsive Repairs to join a leading FM and Housing Maintenance provider based across the South East.
The organisation provides facilities management and housing maintenance services on behalf of key clients within the Defence Sector. Their Service Family Accomodation division is responsible for overseeing the maintenance and repair of a high volume of service accommodation and housing stock across multiple MOD sites based across the UK. They are now looking to appoint a key strategic role of Head of Repairs who will be responsible for leading the delivery of reactive repairs and maintenance across their South East locations.

The role is being offered as home-based, with significant travel required across the South East and regular attendance at one of their main hubs based in North Hampshire.

Your new role
As the Head of Repairs, you will be a strategic leader responsible for managing a team of maintenance schedulers and talented trade staff within a fast-paced environment. You will take charge of the day-to-day delivery of reactive repairs and maintenance, handling a high volume of repairs per month, across a large portfolio of on-site MOD accomodation and housing stock. Your role will play a vital part in shaping the future of the repairs service and the success of the contract, ensuring all processes are efficient, customer focussed, and compliant with the highest standards.
Key responsibilities -

  • Lead and drive forward the accomodation contract, seeking methods to improve service delivery.
  • Be the driving force behind the repairs programme, ensuring smooth operations and high quality results.
  • Manage and lead a team of responsive repairs schedulers and trade staff.
  • Manage and coordinate resources, ensuring pre- and post- repairs are completed efficiently with high levels of customer service.
  • Scoping out programmes of work, managing contracts and budgets, and ensuring deadlines and key objectives are met.
  • Provide regular reporting, undertake contract management, and implement policy changes.
  • Build strong relationships with key stakeholders, customers, contractors and suppliers.
  • Oversee compliance and implement health and safety regulations, including CDM and asbestos control.


What you'll need to succeed
  • Hold and degree / qualification in a relevant discipline (i.e. construction, FM, property, housing)
  • Strong knowledge and extensive experience of service delivery for reactive / responsive repairs within a housing environment.
  • Proven experience of managing a team, including direct delivery trades.
  • Excellent contract management skills, performance management and report writing.
  • Strong relationship building skills, including high level stakeholder engagement.
  • Expertise in housing compliance, construction health and safety and project management.
  • Previous experience within the defence sector is desirable.
