Planner required for Belfast based civil & utilities contractor.

Hays Recruitment is working alongside one of Northern Ireland's leading Utilities / Civils / Infrastructure companies as they seek to hire an experienced Planner. Your new employer has been developing and maintaining infrastructure schemes across the UK & Ireland and specialises in Utilities (Power/Telecoms), Civil Engineering and Infrastructure projects, where they have built their business on a foundation of expertise, teamwork, and customer service. Based in Belfast, this company has secured long-term frameworks with reputable clients for numerous roll-out schemes and requires a Planner to oversee and develop both working programmes and tender programmes for the business.
Priding themselves on quality, your new company offers excellent employee packages and a clear route for progression within the business. This role will involve limited UK travel (which can be flexible) with all flights, accommodation and expenses covered when required to travel.
Your new role
Due to continuous successful contract awards, this contractor is increasing their headcount with a newly created role available for an experienced Planner. Based in their Belfast office, you will have the opportunity to work on a range of projects from £100K to £10 Million plus, for several highly profiled Global Clients. Some of your duties and responsibilities will include:

  • Creating, maintaining, and reviewing a Programme of Work.
  • Conduct a thorough analysis of project requirements.
  • Liaising with various site teams, specifically QS & PM.
  • Produce marked up drawings relevant to the project phases.
  • Report any planning issues to the senior project manager and site Management Team.
  • Input to Monthly Progress Reports and Forecasts for the Management Team.
  • Maintain accurate project documentation.
  • Regular reporting on project progress to management team on a project.
  • Monitor project progress with as-built programmes.
  • Produce Procurement Schedules.
  • Produce resource histograms relevant to capacity planning/labour.
  • Other ad-hoc duties.
  • What you'll need to succeed
    Suitable similar experience will be required for the role of Planner, and you will ideally have the following qualifications, experience, or attitudes.
  • Experience at both the tender and contract stages of projects, including NEC.
  • Experience of using Project Planning software.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Innovative, creative, and proactive with a solution-oriented approach.
  • Ability to always represent the company professionally.
